Lowell Asian American Film Festival!

The Lowell Asian American Film Festival (LAAFF) features Asian American-directed films from across the country for a weekend celebrating art, culture and diversity.


LAAFF is sponsored by MCC with support from the Middlesex Community College Foundation and the Lowell Cultural Council Grant.

MCC’s Richard and Nancy Donahue Family Academic Arts Center • 240 Central St, Lowell, MA 01852

Scheduled for:
Friday, October 17 through Saturday, October 18 

Price: 
College students (with valid ID): $10/event, $15 for full festival

Youths 0-13: FREE
Adults: $15/event
Attend the full festival: $25

5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Opening Reception and Performance

6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Screening of Opening Films

7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Q&A with director and producer


Saturday, October 18

11 a.m. to Noon Animated Shorts

Noon to 1 p.m. Student Shorts

1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Intermission

1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Narrative Short Films

2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Documentary Short Films

3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Award Ceremony & Reception

5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Screening of Closing Film 

7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Q&A with director and producer


We accepted submissions on FilmFreeway over the summer!

Categories include:

  • Narrative Short Film
  • Documentary Short Film
  • Animated Short Film
  • Student Short Film
  • Feature Film
  • Feature Documentary

This year, we will offer awards in four categories. Winners receive a monetary award and a festival laurel.

  • Best Short Narrative Film – $250
  • Best Short Documentary Film – $200
  • Best Short Animated Film – $100
  • Best Student Short Film – $100
